Kamenets District
The Kamenets District lies in the north-west of the region on the border with Poland, about 1,690 km². It was formed on 15 January 1940 and has had its present borders since 1962. The main rivers are the Western Bug and its tributaries Lesnaya and Pulva; the north of the district takes in part of the Białowieża Forest.
Kamenets, a town since 1983, is known for its 13th-century tower, the Kamenets Vezha. The other urban centre of the district is Vysokoe.
