The Baranovichi Region existed from 4 December 1939 to 8 January 1954. In 1940 it covered 23,300 km² and was divided into 26 districts - from Lida and Valozhyn in the north to Lyakhovichi and Slonim in the south.

After the war the region shrank, and in 1954 it was abolished: its districts went to the Brest, Grodno, Minsk and Molodechno regions.
